Dorothy "Dot" Hopkins, 85, of Lewisburg, formerly of Chapel Hill, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, in Lewisburg.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Wilson County and was a daughter of the late William Hardy and Dorothy Elizabeth Peek Hester. She was a graduate of Forrest High School and a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Hopkins retired from Genesco Corp. of Chapel Hill and later retired from Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Howard and Mary Elizabeth Pugh, and by brothers, William Hardy Hester Jr., Jerry Hester, and Charlie Hester.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jolly Walls of Chapel Hill; grandson, Kenny "Pugsley" (Kris) Young of Murfreesboro; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Juanita Beard of Nashville; and brothers, Billy Hester of Marshall, Ark. and Norman Hester of Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.12, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating. Burial will follow in Middle View Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
