Lorene Neese Batten, 96, of Lewisburg, died Saturday morning, Oct. 22, 2011, in Lewisburg.
Mrs. Batten was born in Grant, Okla., and was the daughter of the late Joel Lowe and Martha Elizabeth Harber Neese. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Lewisburg. She worked many years for Red Cedar Pencil Company and retired from Cosmolab, Inc. in Lewisburg.
Mrs. Batten was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Batten, who died in 2003; a son, Edward Franklin Batten; a son-in-law, Grady Long; sister, Carleen (Sam) McClanaham; and brothers, Richard (Jeroline) Neese, John (Mary) Neese, and Bill Neese.
Mrs. Batten is survived by her daughter, Helen Long of the Laws Hill Community; three granddaughters, Carolyn, Cindy and Cathy; sister-in-law, Ruth Neese; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 24, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Woodford and Rev. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial followed in Hopper Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Paul Neese, Billy Neese, Eddie Neese, Paul Neese Jr., Freddie Stacey, and Gary Bolling.
