The Rotary Club here is planning something special for this year's Christmas Parade since the club's first Patriotic Parade was 10 years ago.
"And in light of 9/11, we are revisiting that theme and doing another Patriotic Parade," Rotary spokeswoman Peggy Hubbard announced this week.
The Patriotic Christmas Parade will be Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.
"Let's show our Veterans and military service members how much we appreciate their service and dedication," Hubbard said.
"We will line up at the usual place, Tiger Blvd, and proceed to the Square," Hubbard said. "At the square, entries will make a left on First Avenue and disburse at Rock Creek Park where parents can park to retrieve their children."
All Marshall County Veterans are encouraged to participate, and service men and women currently serving in their branch of the military are to be honored as grand marshals.
"Any veteran or current member of the armed forces is welcomed to join us," Hubbard said. "Several local agencies are assisting in providing parade rides and those veterans and service members not involved in one of these organizations are welcomed to be at the parade site and we will make sure they have a ride."
Individuals and groups planning to ride, drive, float, march, walk or stroll in the parade are being asked to "decorate with a patriotic theme," the Rotarian said.
Individuals and group leaders may call Hubbard at 359-3998 to receive a number for their position in the parade. There is no entry fee.
