On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs suffered their fifth straight loss when they were defeated 53-17 by the Richland Raiders at home.

With starting forward Haydon McMahon and reserves Devante Spencer and Zack Welch all sidelined by injuries, the shorthanded Bulldogs (1-6, 0-1 District) were simply overwhelmed by Richland, as the Raiders (3-4, 1-0 District) built a 34-12 lead in the first half before outscoring CHS 19-5 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 36-point victory.

Hindered by a 1-of-13 effort from three-point range, Cornersville mustered just six field goals on 19 percent shooting and committed 19 turnovers.

Despite hitting only 3-of-15 attempts from beyond the arc, Richland shot an impressive 52 percent (23-of-44) from the field overall and turned the ball over only 12 times. The Raiders also outrebounded the Bulldogs 23-13 and held a 7-2 edge on the offensive glass.

Freshman point guard Tate Lowery led Cornersville with nine points and two steals, while Zack Smith added five points. Danny Gordon and Jamie Crowell chipped in two and one point respectively as well for the Bulldogs with Gordon pulling down eight rebounds.

Cody Jordon paced Richland with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go along with three assists and three steals. Jacob Farrar and Markus Batchelder also tallied eight points apiece for the Raiders, while Carson Edwards and Bret Boatright had seven and six points respectively.
