Lawmen hunting for a Lewisburg man found him hiding in Cornersville.

Marshall County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Harden had a failure-to-appear warrant and an attachment for child support from Maury County to serve on Johnathon J. Vagts, 29, of Limestone Avenue.

Harden's report states he went to a house in Cornersville and knocked for a long time before a young woman came to the door. Deanna Bannan, 21, told Harden and Cornersville Police Officer David McVey that Vagts was not in the house, but had gone to Florida.

She gave the two officers permission to search the house and at first they believed Vagts was not there. Then they found his pants and wallet and searched more thoroughly, finding Vagts under the kitchen sink.

Vagts was arrested and remains jailed. Bannan was also arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact. Harden's report states that she was given several opportunities to admit that Vagts was in the house, but failed to do so.
