Clifton Roberts, 83, of Lewisburg, passed away on Monday evening, Jan. 16, 2012, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin.
Mr. Roberts was born in Davidson County and was a lifelong resident of Marshall County. He was the son of the late Hobart Roberts and Betty Delaney Roberts. He was retired from Heil-Quaker Corporation with 40 years of service. He was a charter member of Parkview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, Ulver and Susie Welch, and two brothers, Toy and Olen Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thelma Spray Roberts of Lewisburg; two daughters, Carol (Ray) Troup of Morristown and Janice (Mike) Strawbridge of Cleveland, Tenn.; and one son, Leonard "Len" Clifton Roberts of Lewisburg.
Also surviving are four granddaughters, Elizabeth (Tyler) Troup Hall and Emily Troup, both of Nashville, Erica Troup of Morristown, and Bailey Roberts of Lewisburg; three grandsons, Scott (Megan) Strawbridge of Cookeville, Will Strawbridge of Nashville, and Jordan Roberts of Lewisburg; two brothers, Harold Roberts of Montgomery, Ala. and Carlton Roberts of Columbia; and one sister, Penny Lazaneo of Rosemont, Minn.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Rev. David Spray officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. Also on Saturday, Jan. 21, after 11 a.m.
