To the editor:
I am astonished by the generosity of the many in this community who have responded to the plight of the Dixie Theatre. It is another example of the volunteer efforts of the people of Lewisburg and Marshall County. Over the years, an untold number of individuals and businesses have given their time and money to make our community better.
During my time here, I have witnessed those efforts on behalf of ballparks, the bleachers at the high school, and helping those with huge medical bills, fire victims, the purchase and restoration of the Dixie, as well as many other worthy causes.
I want to thank Clint for attending and reporting on a rehearsal of the "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." I am even more grateful for Tribune news reports on the loss of the two heating units. I understand that about half of the dollar amount needed to replace them has been raised.
For these reasons and many others, I have always considered it a privilege to live here.
