Local Farm Bureau women help the needy

Friday, March 2, 2012

The Marshall County Farm Bureau Women's Leadership Committee observed Food Check-Out Week (Feb. 19-25) by collecting food money amounting to more than $100 to be distributed to needy community members through the Good Samaritan Corporation of Marshall County.

Now in its 14th year, Farm Bureau's Food Check-Out Week focused on helping Americans learn how to stretch their grocery dollar with healthy, nutritious food. America's farmers and ranchers are committed to producing safe, healthy and abundant food. They share a common concern with consumers when it comes to putting nutritious meals on the table while sticking to a tight budget.

Marcella and B.D. Spence headed the Food Check-Out Week's activities for the local Farm Bureau Women's Leadership Committee.
