Joe V. Hayes, 91, of the Laws Hill Community, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
A native of Marshall County, Mr. Hayes was the son of the late Lish and Ida Caldwell Hayes. He was a retired truck driver for the Tennessee Department of Transportation as well as a self-employed milk hauler. Mr. Hayes was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Clay Hill United Methodist Church.
He was the widower of Mary Jane McCool Hayes, who died in 2004.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Larry) Hayes Baxter of the Laws Hill Community and Frances Hayes of Shelbyville; a son, Doug (Clara) Hayes of the Laws Hill Community; a sister, Virginia Farley of Leeds, Ala.; three grandchildren, Darlene Ring, Sabrina Thomas and Joseph Baxter; and three great-grandchildren, Maegan Ring, Tommy Hayes Ring, and Hadley Elizabeth Thomas.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 15, at Clay Hill United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Hopper Cemetery with Military Honors.
