Jean Murdock Dyer
Jean Murdock Dyer, 84, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, in Lincoln Care Center.
Mrs. Dyer was a native of Marshall County, and the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Mary Jones Murdock. For many years she traveled, playing in numerous duplicate bridge tournaments and becoming a "Life Master." She also served as Fayetteville-Lincoln County Librarian for a number of years. Later in life she became a registered nurse, retiring from Lincoln County Health Facilities where she worked for many years in the OB Department. She attended Prospect Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Owen and Frances Cater.
Survivors include her husband, Joel Lee Dyer Sr.; three children, Diane (Jimmy) Buchanan, Amelia (Jim) Strasler, and Joel Lee (Rita) Dyer Jr; sister, Margaret Adams; brother, John (Mary Sue) Murdock; five grandchildren, Brett (Mandy) Buchanan, Brian Buchanan, Alyne (Tim) Piovesan, Rett (April) Strasler, and Brianne Goolsby; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Talley Cemetery with Dr. Ronnie Gay officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Library, Prospect Baptist Church Building Fund, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or American Heart Association.
