Lewis Ray Cope Sr., 79, of McMinnville, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 22, 1932, in DeKalb County and was a member of Charles Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Cope was preceded in death by his parents, James Madison and Exie Anah Adcock Cope; first wife, Joyce Campbell; seven sisters; four brothers; and three stepchildren.
Survivors include wife, Mary Cope; children, Lewis (Linda) Cope Jr., Lewisburg, and Judy (Orville) Cole, McMinnville; brother, Carl (Verna) Cope, Sparta; grandchildren, Kenneth (Tammy) Lance, Nashville, Lewis Ray "Traye" Cope III and Chris Cope, McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Andrew Lance, Shelton Cope, Madison Cope, and Hennessee Cope; seven stepgrandchildren, including Terry (Emily) Smith and Sherry (Mike) Randles; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at McMinnville Funeral Home, followed by interment at Whorton Springs Cemetery in DeKalb County.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at McMinnville Funeral Home.
