John Wesley Hargrove, 90, of 343 Hillsdale Street in Lewisburg, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.
A native of Giles County, he was the son of the late Sadie Price Hargrove and John Hargrove. He was a veteran and a former POW, serving his country in the United States Army during WWII; he was retired from Faber Castell Corporation, and was a farmer, and a member of the Richland Cumberland Presbyterian Church of the Springplace Community.
His parents, two brothers, Cecil Hargrove and James Hargrove, and one sister, Betty Woodard, preceded Mr. Hargrove in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Mary Ruth Thomason Lee Hargrove; one son, Toney (Ruth) Hargrove of Cornersville; two daughters, Catherine (Jimmy) Harmond of Sylacauga, Ala. and Jeannette (Tony) Matthews of Lewisburg; one stepson, Charles (Sandy) Lee of Lewisburg; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hargrove were conducted Sunday, April 29, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home, with Brother Buddy Pope officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Lone Oak Cemetery.
