Mary Ruth Fowler Calvert Pruitt, 88, of Chapel Hill, died Friday, July 13, 2012.
A native of Marshall County, Mrs. Pruitt was a daughter of the late Otis and Knoxie Cochran Fowler. She retired from Durango Boot Co. after 32 years of service, following which she worked for the Marshall County School system in food services for nine years. She was a member of the Hickory Heights Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph R. Calvert, who died in 1978; her second husband, Tommy Pruitt, who died in 1996; a sister, Virginia Donald; and two brothers, Harold and James Fowler.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Buford Calvert of Chapel Hill and Johnny Calvert of Unionville; five sisters, Edwina Terry of Cornersville, Evelyn Wright of Lewisburg, June Welch of Cornersville, Faye Dyer of Delina, and Peggy Beard of the Verona Community; three brothers, Sydney (Tootsie) Fowler of Lexington, Ky., Ezell Fowler of Cornersville and Cordell Fowler of Cornersville; two granddaughters, Julie (Travis) Powers of Spring Hill and Katie Calvert of the Bethesda Community of Williamson County; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 17, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial followed at Middleview Cemetery.
