A native of Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Verna Pearl Milton Polly and Cheatham Polly, She was retired from Sanford Corporation as a machine operator and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mickey Dean, and a brother, Leslie Herman Polly.
Survivors include three daughters Virginia (Jerry) Gowen of Belfast, Debbie (Paul) Darnell of Cornersville, and Penny Martin of Lewisburg; two sons, Sammy Lee (Alice) Dean of Belfast and Howie (Pam) Dean of Petersburg; and four sisters, Georgia Polly of Lewisburg, Rita Taylor of Shelbyville, Linda Faye Childress of Lewisburg, and Shirley (Frank) Corbin of Petersburg. Seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dean will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Jerry Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Talley Station.
