Rusty Hammonds, 82, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, in Maury Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hammonds was a native of Lincoln County, and son of the late Joe and Daisy Russell Hammonds. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from Wiles Motor Company where he was employed for 57 years as a mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Brewer Hammonds.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna West of Lewisburg; two brothers, Tony Hammonds of Florida and Marvin Hammonds of Lewisburg; sister, Mary Frances Davis of Maryville; half-brother, James Hammonds, also of Maryville; seven grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, from the chapel of London Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Old Orchard Cemetery with military honors.
The family will be at London Funeral Home Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour for visitation.
