The Saddle Creek Men's Golf Association (MGA) held their club championship event this past weekend and Joe Liggett ran away with the title, finishing eight shots clear of second place.

Liggett fired a three-under par 69 (30-39) in the first round on Saturday and followed that up with a solid five-under par 67 (32-35) in round two on Sunday for a 136 total.

Defending champion Mike Tankersley shot an even par total of 74-70 for a second place finish.

The tournament was divided in to two flights with the gross total coming from the actual scores carded, while the net division subtracted each player's USGA handicap index from the actual posted score on each day.

Joey Morefield, MGA president and two-time TSSAA state champion at MCHS, carded rounds of 77-74 for fifth place.

The net winner, sporting a seven handicap was Jason Lopes, who shot rounds of 76-73 for a 149 gross total and with his handicap adjustment, Lopes ended up with a 135 net score.
