A native of Erin, he was the son of the late Edna Lomax Tomlinson and William Henry Tomlinson.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a dairy farmer in Giles County, a deacon at Antioch Church of Christ, and a former elder at Campbellsville Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Marie Tomlinson; a brother, Garner Tomlinson; and three brothers-in-law, Olon and Frank England, and Gene Parrish.
Survivors include three children, Hal (Rhonda) Tomlinson of Sevierville, Vickie (David) Edwards of Murfreesboro, and Kerry Dale (Kristy) Tomlinson of Columbiana, Ala.; one brother, James Clifton Tomlinson of Lebanon; one brother-in-law, Wayne (Bambi) England of Columbia; and one sister-in-law, Catherine Parrish of Lewisburg. Eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Tomlinson were conducted on Thursday, Aug. 2, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home, followed by burial in Sunset Park Cemetery with military honors.
