John Homer Poteete, 68, of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Poteete was a native of Maury County, and son of the late Walter Bly Poteete and Evone Crews Poteete of Belfast. He was a carpenter and member of East Commerce Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Tammy Poteete; paternal grandparents, Bertha and Willie Poteete; and maternal grandparents, Bill and Annie Haskins.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Kim Poteete Brown of Shelbyville and Connie Poteete Crick of Cornersville; two brothers, Wesley (Nancy) Poteete and Willie (Janice) Poteete, both of Belfast; three sisters, Dean (Freddie) George of Lewisburg, Nell (Robert) Richmond of Belfast, and Emma (Danny) Spray of Lewisburg; and four grandchildren, James Crick, Katherine Crick, Amanda Brown, and Melanie Brown.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 18, from the chapel of London Funeral Home, followed by burial in Beechwood Cemetery.

London Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
