Rockets squeeze out two-stroke win

The Forrest Rockets squeezed out another win Wednesday on their home course at the Buford Ellington Golf Course inside Henry Horton State Park as they combined for a 185 cumulative score, two strokes ahead of Spring Hill and six shots clear of District 11A-AA rival Community.

Gary Lukonen started out on fire before coming home with a four over par 40 on the front nine.

Austin Nichols played a steady round and matched Lukonen's 40, Ty Hoeft came home in 47 strokes, Hawken King carded a 52 and Robert Garcia rounded the Rockets' scoring with a 59.

Community's Zack West continued his fine play on the year as he won the low medalist honors with a one over par 37, while Jake Garrette shot 48, Hunter Smithey signed for a 50, Dillion West netted 56 and Austin Sanders needed 62 strokes.

Spring Hill was led by Chris Coop, who shot a 43, Eric Binkley carded a 46, Sam Hardison was one more back with a 47, Austin Mabry signed his card for 51 strokes and Jonathan Chappell shot a 53.

Spring Hill's Libby Coop netted a 41 to lead the Lady Raiders (91) over Forrest (117), while teammate Danielle White shot a 50 and Amber Wray scored a 59.

Lady Rocket 8th grader Dani Hoeft continued to lead Forrest in the scoring column with a 57 on Wednesday, Caitlin Burt carded a 60, Maria Harris signed her card for a 66 and Alyssa Elliott shot a 73.

Community only had one lady golfer in Hannah Brown, who shot a 45.
