A native of Marshall County, he was the son of the late Florence Cozart Ervin and Archie Ervin. He was retired from Eaton Corporation in Shelbyville, served his country in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Martha Frances Ervin who passed in 2011, a granddaughter, Jeannie Ray Lindsey, and a great-grandchild, Shane Lindsey, along with one brother, Claudie Ervin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Sue Lee of Petersburg, Kathy Rogers of Lewisburg, and JoAnn Crick of Lewisburg; three brothers, Wilburn Ervin of Columbia, Clyde Ervin of Pottsville, and Jackie Ervin of Pulaski; and four sisters, Eleanor Rubert of Columbia, Betty Brannon of Columbia, Dorothy Young of Lewisburg, and Lula Crigger of Lewisburg. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ervin will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home, with Thomas B. Sumners officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation with the family will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home.
