The Forrest Lady Rockets played one good half versus Cascade Thursday night in Chapel Hill, but a very bad second half cost them in a lopsided 9-3 loss to the Lady Champions.

The Lady Rockets came out of the gate fast with Sarah Blasingim scoring at the 38:38 mark of the first half to make it 1-0.

Cascade began a comeback, but was thwarted by two great saves by Forrest goalie Candace Daughrity on back-to-back runs by the Lady Champs.

Forrest captains Katey Campbell (14) and Ashlee Kritz (29) are all smiles as they shake hands with the Cascade captains before the contest.

At the 28:48 mark of the first half, Shelbye Stacy scored the equalizer for Cascade and one minute later, Tori Slater made it a 2-1 Cascade lead.

For the next ten minutes, both teams had several scoring opportunities, but could not connect until Blasingim scored on a breakaway with 17:20 remaining in the first half.

Moments later, Forrest suffered a crucial blow when Blasingim was injured.

Blasingim would not return to the match.

Cassie Septer scored the go-ahead goal for Forrest with 9:29 left in the first half when she took a nice crossing pass from Scarlett Roberson and drilled the ball past the Cascade goalie.

In the second half, the Forrest defense fell apart and Cascade took advantage as Slater scored two more goals for a hat trick, and Cari Brown, Alyssa Hoover, Katelynn Edde and Kaley Clanton all netted a goal for the 9-3 final.

Forrest (2-1, 1-1) travels to Community on Tuesday and the Lady Rockets will also be on the road at Huntland on Friday.
