Sweeney bags early birthday present On opening day of the 2012 juvenile weekend, Culleoka native Hope Sweeney shot her first buck. After missing a big buck and hitting her nose with the scope, Sweeney did not give up hope, deciding to tough it out and hunt a little longer. At 7:36 am, just 20-30 minutes after missing the first buck, this 11-pointer stepped out at 80 yards. Hope took aim and didn't miss this time. After shooting the buck she looked at her dad Sean and said, "Daddy, my nose doesn't hurt anymore, let's go get my buck"! Hope Sweeney will celebrate her 10th birthday on Saturday.
Cannon Cervantes, 10 years old, of Chapel Hill, got a seven-point buck on his youth hunt.
These young hunters are twins. Aaron Riggs (Above), 11 years old, killed these turkeys during fall turkey hunt, while his twin brother James (Top) bagged his first deer this fall with a crossbow.
