Tommie Ray Collins, 65, of the Wheel Community, passed suddenly Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
A native of Bedford County, he was the son of the late Haskell Collins and Mildred Inez Arnold Collins. Before his retirement, Mr. Tommie was a pipe fitter and welder. He was a member of the Christian Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Kay Collins.
He is survived by a daughter, Janna (James) Wilkerson of Wheel; grandchildren, Jay and Jackson Wilkerson of Wheel; former wife, Cathy Collins; nephews, Justice and Steele Carter; and a niece, Summer Carter.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, with a Celebration of his life service to be held at 7 p.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Kevin Ray Warren and Keith Warren officiating. Mr. Collins' wishes were to be cremated.
