Iva Hill Garrett, 96, of Lewisburg, passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 , one month short of her 97th birthday.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Zedrick Hugh, and Ollie Mai Holt Hill.
Mrs Garrett was a homemaker and co-owner of Garrett's Janitorial Services, an active member of Greater First Baptist Church for over 70 years, as well as active in many community organizations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 18 of her siblings; her husband, Erwin Garrett; her daughter, Zela Mai Hill; and first-born grandson, Dr. Gary J. Hill Sr.
Mrs. Garrett is survived by one sister, Otie Brown Hill Smith of Nashville; two loving grandsons, James Anthony Hill of Nashville and Erwin Renard (Joyce) Hill of Lewisburg; one devoted and loving caregiver-granddaughter, Sylvia Drusilla Hill Corley of Lewisburg; 12 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 27, at Greater First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Larry Thomas officiating. Rev. Wm. Herbert Johnson gave the Eulogy. Interment followed in Cook Memorial Gardens.
Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
