James Gilmore Mills

Funeral services for James Gilmore Mills, 78, of Huntsville, Ala., were conducted Monday, Dec. 31, at the Petersburg First Baptist Church with Terry Mills and Larry Hames officiating. Burial followed in Old Orchard Cemetery. Mr. Mills passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 29, 2012, at Ardmore Care.

A native of Harris, Ala. and a long time resident of Petersburg, he was a truck driver and a member of the Jackson Way Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy 'ÄúGeri'Äù Mills of Huntsville; three sons, Jerry Dale Manley, Mike (Connie) Mills, and Terry (Sam) Mills, all of Lewisburg; two daughters, Vicki (Darrell) Horton of Smyrna and Kathi (Steve) Calahan of Lewisburg; one stepson, Steve (Rita) Hogue of Huntsville; one stepdaughter Saundra (Todd) Martin of Huntsville; one sister, Opal Lee Mills Hames of Petersburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil "Pete" Willard and Mary Jane Rogers Mills, and sister, Nettie Elizabeth Mills Foster.

Higgins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
