Anne Claire "Nancy" Dunn, 90, of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at NHC Oakwood.
Mrs. Dunn was a native of Scobey, Miss., and was the daughter of the late Griffith Lacy and Winnie Wallace McSwine.
She attended Scobey Elementary, Oakland High School, and Blue Mountain College. She taught school at Enid, Miss., where she met and married Jack G. Dunn, to whom she was married for 65+ years. She lived in Greenwood, Miss., Pecos, Texas, Phoenix, Ariz., Shelbyville, and Lewisburg. She was known for her beauty, charm, ironic sense of humor, and indomitable will. She had leadership roles in the Woman's Club, Study Club, Girl Scouts, and PTA. She was best known as a successful decorator and businesswoman, as co-owner and chief operator of Church and Institutional Supply Company (CISCO) in Lewisburg. Her motto was "Do Something and Be Somebody." She certainly did and was.
She is survived by her only child, Pam Gissendanner of Vienna, Va.; two grandchildren, Deana Claire Gissendanner of Arlington, Va. and Griffin Dunn Gissendanner of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Patty Hendricks of Boyle, Miss.; and Mrs. Hendricks' three children, Mike, Matt, and Nancy Wynn Copper.
The family will be at London Funeral Home for visitation from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11.
