James Marlon "Major" Adams

James Marlon "Major" Adams, 76, of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1936, in Marshall County, to the late Gollie B. and Mildred Kidd Adams. Mr. Adams was a tow motor operator at Intercity in Lewisburg and was a member of Medium Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle Ruth Adams Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Nichols Adams; daughters, Marlayne and Sonnie Clark of Sedalia, Mo. and Malynda and Dave Wood of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Rabun and Dailia Adams of the Delina Community; sister, Geneva Bigham of Franklin; five grandchildren, Melanie and Jason Wright, Misty and Nathan Ratcliff, Caty Wood, Elizabeth Clark, and James Clark; and five great-grandchildren, Cara Galyon, Garrett, Nolan and Emma-Claire Wright, and Brayden Vaughn.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 21, in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Smith and Rev. Beulah Wright officiating. Burial followed in Medium Cemetery.
