A native of Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Clemmie Whitesell Williams and Ernest Thompson Williams. She was the owner of Two Sisters Dress Shop and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Bowden; a daughter, Billie Marie Bowden Carroll; and four grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Don Bowden of Lewisburg and Mack (Norma) Bowden of Lewisburg; a daughter, Patsy Bowden (Harold) Daughrity of Chapel Hill; granddaughters, Rhonda Carroll Cross of Smyrna, Donnette Bowden Giles of Lewisburg, Debbie Ramsey of Knoxville, Kimberly Corder of Russellville, Ky., and Christi Farlow of Chapel Hill; and grandsons, Greg Bowden of Memphis, Christopher Bowden of Murfreesboro, and Kenneth Daughrity of Chapel Hill. Fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services for Mrs. Bowden were conducted Sunday, Jan. 20, in Bowden Cemetery with Jeff Eason and Claude McMillion officiating.
