Funeral services for Ettie Cates Elliott Williams, 102, of Shelbyville, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Mark Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home.
Ms. Williams passed on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at The Heart Remembers Center after an extended illness.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Elliott and Leona Lorena Cates Elliott. Ms Williams taught school for many years at Community Elementary School in Unionville, was a homemaker, was past president of Ladies Farm Bureau and Sulfur Springs Home Demonstration Club, and was a member of Fairlane Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Douglas Williams.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Elliott (Peggy) Williams of Banning, Calif., Douglas Madison (Carol) Williams of Lewisburg, and Mary Ann (Dr. Robert) Carlton of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
