Gary Walter Lee Garrett
Gary Walter Lee Garrett, 67, of Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Mr. Garrett was a native of Marshall County, and the son of the late Gordon Garrett and Edith Adele Derringer Garrett. He was a retired Staff Sergeant with both the United States Marine Corps and United States Army. During his career, he earned numerous citations and awards including the Purple Heart with valor and Bronze Star with valor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Gordon Garrett.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Ann Garrett; one daughter, Tracy Garrett (Terry) Bell; two sons, Patrick Lee (Karen) Garrett and Anthony Lee (Salina) Garrett; grandchildren, Cameron Lee Garrett, Grayson Leigh and Tatum Pressley Garrett, Cory Michael (Sara) Garrett, Chantz Anthony Garrett, Taylor Renee Garrett, Levi Garrett Bell and Summer Leigh Garrett; one great-granddaughter, Haley Renee Garrett; one sister, Elizabeth Bryant; and two brothers, Ewell Garrett and Billy Garrett; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Garrett were conducted Sunday, Feb. 3, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., at a later date.
