James Rudolph Pilkington

James Rudolph Pilkington, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Christian Care Center of Bedford County.

He was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Beech Grove, to the late Elbert Francis and Mattie Pinkston Pilkington. Mr. Pilkington was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and France during World War II. He was retired from Eraser Products in Lewisburg.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Mike Pilkington; and two grandchildren, David King and Danny King.

He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Zelma Mae Delk Pilkington of Shelbyville; two sons, Rudy Pilkington, and his wife Dawn, and Tony Pilkington, all of Shelbyville; two daughters, Shirley Ann King and her husband Carl of Lewisburg and Betty Lorraine Landers and her husband Doyle of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Sherry Gleghorn and her husband Kelvin, Eddie Landers and his wife Stacey, Yolanda Landers, Donna Smith and her husband Brian, Christi Donaldson and her husband Nathan, and Evan Pilkington; and four great-grandchildren, Layne Fields, Hardee Fields, Nathan Landers, and Lee Landers.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 11, at Feldhaus Memoral Chapel, with Reverend Tommy Dye officiating. Burial, with full military honors, followed in Willow Mount Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
