Herbert Allen Taylor, 88, of Belfast, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Taylor was a native of Giles County, and the son of the late Sullie and Vashti Taylor. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was retired from Inter-City Products (Heil-Quaker Corp.) following 36 years of service, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewisburg.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Clifford Taylor, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Elaine Gatlin Taylor of Belfast; two daughters, Cynthia Merrick of Nashville and Debby (Chandler) Burton of Pulaski; one brother, Farris (Marjorie) Taylor of Lewisburg; one sister, Sara Clift of Lewisburg; and a sister-in-law, Florence Taylor of Illinois. Three grandchildren, Tony (Donna) Burton and Jeffrey (Audra) Burton. both of Cornersville, and John (Becca) Merrick of Millersville; four stepgreat-grandchildren; Marjorie's sister Brenda Wright; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Taylor were Thursday, March 14, from the chapel of Bllls-McGaugh Funeral Home, with Dr. Tom Dumser and Bro. Frank Edwards officiating. Burial took place at New Zion Cemetery in the Brick Church Community of Giles County with Military Honors.

Pallbearers were Tony and Jeffrey Burton, Jason Wright, Eddie Taylor, Rex Gatlin, and John Merrick.
