J.W. "Bill" Arbuckle

J.W. "Bill" Arbuckle, 92, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.

Born in Grundy County, Bill was a resident of Lewisburg from 1947 to 1975.

He was a WWII veteran, receiving a Purple Heart for being wounded during combat in France. He served as City Manager during the 1960s, developed water systems throughout Marshall County, and laid grounds for the first Highway 50 drive-in. During his years at the City of Lewisburg, he was instrumental in residential, industrial, and commercial land development. He retired to Camden, Tenn. More recently, he lived in Arizona near his daughter Katy and her family.

He was preceded in death by wife, Carolyn Prosser Arbuckle, a Lewisburg native, and daughter, Nan.

He is survived by son Andy, daughter Katy and son-in-law Eric; stepson Phil Melton and daughter-in-law Sharon; and grandsons, Jackson, Ethan and Justin.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at London Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2 p.m.
