The Forrest Rocket golf squad opened the season Thursday at Henry Horton State Park with just two players due to prior commitments from the other team members.

Rockets

Sophomores Gary Lukonen and Hawken King teed it up for the Rockets and Lukonen stared the campaign off in style, shooting an even-par round of 36 at the Buford Ellington tract.

Lukonen made seven pars, one bogey, and a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole to record his stellar opening day round.

Forrest sophomore Hawken King putts out on the Par 4 fifth hole.

King struggled home with a 50, but showed signs that he would be a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.

The Rockets were unable to post an official tally because four scores by four different players are required to compete.

Bulldogs

The Cornersville Bulldogs posted their first win of the season with a narrow two-stroke win over the Community

Vikings.

The Bulldogs won 202 to 204 over the Vikings with Tate Lowery leading the way with a solid 42.

Cornersville's Matthew Karbon plays a shot out of the rough on the Par 5 sixth hole at Henry Horton.

Colbe Downs was next with a 49, Matthew Karbon carded a 53, and Blake Callahan netted a 58 for head coach Joy

McMasters' squad.

Justin Singleton added a 62 for the Dawgs.

Jake Garrette's 45 led the Vikings, while Blake Fanning netted a 51, Spencer Smith came home in 52 strokes,

Austin Sanders had a 56, and Brayden Stephenson signed for a 61.

The Lady Dawgs also beat the Viqueens, 131-138 with Carly Salsman leading the charge with 65.

Cornersville's Emma Reese executes a long putt on the Par 4 first hole at Henry Horton.

Emma Reese and Ellie Jackson took 66 strokes apiece to round out Cornersville's scoring.

Loren Burris shot 66 for Community, while Mattie Herbison carded a 72.
