Little Bolivian girls enjoy dresses made in Lewisburg
By Jessica Moore
The Sewing Seeds Ministry of New Life Church on the square recently sent 100 pillowcase dresses to Bolivia in South America. This time, the dresses were transported to South America by a missionary, Sister Mary Gerald, a Daughter of Charity. She has been located in South America working with those in need for over 40 years. Based in Trinidad, Bolivia, she travels to the smallest villages to help teach the Word of God, feed the hungry, and much more.
After giving out the pillowcase dresses, Sister Mary Gerald sent back photos of the little girls and their dresses. Those involved in the Sewing Seeds Ministry were so happy to see the girls with their new clothes. They were told the girls were so excited to have the new dresses that many of them put them on right away, directly over the top of their other clothes.
"It's not about us, it's all about God and doing His work," explained Patty Salsman of the Sewing Seeds Ministry. "It was so wonderful to see the end results. Thank you to everyone who helped during the making of the dresses, those who donated materials, and those who supported us during the process," said Salsman, joined by Pat Taylor.
After taking a short break during the holidays, and flu season for many, the group is excited and ready to get back to it. Anyone with a passion for helping others is more than welcome to help out, whether or not you are a member of the church. The Sewing Seeds group meets on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Anyone involved is welcome to come and go during that time. Supplies needed to make the clothing include pillow cases, scrap material, sheets, ribbons, thread, elastic, buttons, and scissors. Donations of any kind will be gladly accepted. Every little girl deserves at least one new dress and Sewing Seeds Ministry is filling that need -- one pillowcase at a time.
