Lawrence James "Buddy" Mitchell, 77, of Lewisburg, died Friday evening, March 7, 2014.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Hopewell, Fla., and was a son of the late Milam Ellis and Lola Tanner Mitchell. He served in the United States Army and was a retired painter, sandblaster and carpenter. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mulberry, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Meriellis Brant.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Naomi Mitchell of Lewisburg; sons, Doyce James Mitchell Sr., George Ellis Mitchell, and Eric Lee Mitchell, all of Lewisburg; sisters, Helen (Don) Lamb of Bradenton, Fla., Myrna Stringfellow of Tampa, Fla., Judy (Joe) Duquette of Mulberry, Fla., Auralee (Robert) Brownning of Mulberry, Fla., Neva (Jimmy) Rollins of Lake City, Fla., and Cheryl (Ralph) Zizler of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, Doyce James Mitchell Jr. of Lewisburg, Heather Dawn Mitchell of Ohio, Trevor Haislip of Lewisburg, Caleb Levi Mitchell of Kentucky, and Joseph Mitchell of Shelbyville; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Jones officiating.
