Gladys Emogene Moon Carroll
Gladys Emogene Moon Carroll, 88, of Shelbyville, passed from this life early Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at NHC Health Care Oakwood in Lewisburg after an extended illness.
She was married to Claude Mason Carroll Sr. for 65 years. Her husband preceded her in death on April 21, 2012. Mrs. Carroll was almost inseparable from her husband during their long and happy marriage. In addition to being a devoted wife she was known as a loving and dedicated mother to her sons, and she was as talented as a cook as she was with any of the wide variety of handicraft activities she pursued throughout her life. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
Mrs. Carroll was the daughter of the late Aubrey Robert Moon and Louise Moon Chockley. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Aubrey Robert "A.R." Moon of Shelbyville.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann (Moon) Speake of Moulton, Ala.; and three sons: Ronald Thomas (and Nancy) Carroll of Hampton Cove, Ala., Claude Mason (and Denise) Carroll Jr. of Parkland, Fla., and Roger Grey (and Jennie) Carroll of Lewisburg. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, March 27, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Carney officiating, followed by burial at Willow Mount Cemetery.
