Affes Cleveland Holder
Affes Cleveland Holder was born March 7, 1919, and died March 27, 2014, at 95 years old.
He was a WWII veteran and spent time in the Phillipines and Japan. Mr. Holder was a member of the Robertson Fork Church of Christ, where he was a song leader and personal worker. He and his wife conducted services with the elderly at the Cornersville Retirement Home for 15 years. He was a retired farmer and worked at Heil Quaker for 28 years.
He was preceded death by his father, James Wesley Holder; his mother, Mary Lettie Stokes Holder; five brothers, Wave, Bill, Allen, Harvey, and Alonzo Holder; four sisters, Anna Mai Hooten, Ozella Wood, Mayme Pettes, and Carrie Davis; and one granddaughter, Wendy Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 69 happy years, Jennie Ruth Stallings Holder of Lynnville; one son, David Holder of Lynnville; one daughter, Mary Holder (Don) Jones of Stuart, Fla.; and one sister, Katherine Jones of Columbia. Eight grandchildren -- Cleveland M. (Beth) Holder of Lewisburg, Christy (Robert) Payne of Littlefield, Texas, Ruth Ann (Matt) Gentry of Lewisburg, James David (Sheri) Holder of Lewisburg, Reba Waples of Tavares, Fla., Harvey Paul (Christa) Holder of Texas, Judy Katherine Hancock of Naples, Fla., and Alice Bell (Kevin) Floyd of Tavares, Fla. -- and 22 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 30, from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home, followed by burial in Mars Hill Cemetery.
Cornersville Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
