Laura Jeanne Hastings, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at AdamsPlace in Murfreesboro.

Mrs. Hastings was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Lewisburg, to the late Eulie and Maggie Shaw Hobby. She grew up in the Berlin Community and lived in Belfast, where she raised her family. She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bobby" Hastings, who died in 2002, and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son, Denny N. Hastings, and his wife Thesa, of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Kara Ashley Segroves and her husband Kyle, and Denny Shane Hastings and his wife Sarah; five great-grandchildren, Gavin and Gwyneth Segroves, and Hannah, Sam, and Olivia Hastings; her caregiver, Carol Rose; and her beloved cat, Lilly.

Graveside services were held Sunday, March 30, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Reverend David Adams officiated.

The family wishes to thank the Bedford County Emergency staff and Centennial Hospital for the care given during her sudden illness. Most of all, thanks to Carol Rose for the love and care she always gave her, and for the long rides in the country and her endless patience.
