Gene Russell, 88, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Columbia.
He was a native of Marshall County, and a son of the late William James and Catherine Vaughn Russell. Gene was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver from Mason Dixon Truck Line and later retired from Metro Nashville Codes Dept. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Gene was a member of the Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Russell in 2000, and his grandson, Jessie Russell, in 2011.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Russell of Lewisburg; two sons, Gary Russell of Sarasota, Fla. and Rick Russell of Nolensville; a stepson, Hal Dixon of Franklin; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 19, from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Worrell and Rev. Luke Bowling officiating.
Graveside services followed at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
