All change in Chapel Hill

A new man will be sitting in the mayor's chair in Chapel Hill: challenger Danny Bingham defeated incumbent Carl Cooper for the mayor's job.
When reached by phone after his victory was announced, Bingham said, "First I wish to thank voters and citizens of Chapel Hill for their vote of confidence and support. It's very humbling.
"As for the plans for Chapel Hill, we're going to have some growing pains in our future. We have a great place to raise a family and do business. I hope to work with our aldermen and city administrator to provide the leadership necessary for that expected growth.
"I have learned through this election that people are wanting accountability in their government, whether it's at the local, state or federal level," Bingham concluded.
Alderman Pam Elliott lost her seat, being replaced by the candidate who got the most votes of anyone: Janice Darnell.
Returning to the board are aldermen "Bucko" Bryant and Tommy Lawrence, and remaining on the board are Marion Joyce, Dottie Morton, and Horace Hill.
