Amy Sweeney Jones
Amy Sweeney Jones, 65, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014.
A native of Marshall County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late William Akin Sweeney and Nancy Ross Clyde Sweeney. Amy was a homemaker and a member of Promise United Methodist Church in the Holts Corner Community. She was the statistician for the Forrest Rockets football team for 30-plus years and was a member of the Class of 1967 at Forrest High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nan Sweeney Duvall; a brother, Tony Sweeney; and a grandson, William Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Wayne "Homer" Jones of Chapel Hill; a daughter, Angie (Ricky) Green of Chapel Hill; two sons, Adam (Jessica) Jones of Chapel Hill and Rusty (Donna) Jones of Chapel Hill; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 12, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Sweeney Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
