John Marvin Leverette J
ohn Marvin Leverette, 85, of Chapel Hill, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, in Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville.
Mr. Leverette was a native of Davidson County, and son of the late Thomas and Delia Carlton Leverette. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired after 39 years as the farm foreman with the University of Tennessee Dairy Research and Education Center. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rippy Leverette; daughter, Sherry Leverette; five brothers; two sisters; and his wife, Nancy Jewell Luna Leverette.
He is survived by one son, Randale Leverette of Chapel Hill; daughter-in-law, Donna Leverette of Lewisburg; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 26, from the chapel of London Funeral Home, followed by burial in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors.
London Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
