Man arrested and charged with recent thefts
From Staff Reports
On Aug. 30, Jason L. Stafford, 31, formerly of Douglas Avenue, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft of property.
The previous day, Detectives Tony Nichols and Drew Binkley of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department were investigating a residential burglary in Marshall County when they obtained information that implicated Stafford.
Nichols and Binkley contacted Lewisburg Police detectives and, working together, they obtained search warrants for two homes in Lewisburg. At these houses, several stolen items were recovered, including property stolen from a vehicle located at 955 East Commerce on Aug. 14 and property stolen from a vehicle located at 1175 Franklin Pike on Aug. 11.
After recovering the property, Detective Sgt. David Henley of the Lewisburg Police Department obtained a warrant for Theft of Property Over $1,000 against Stafford. Before detectives could locate and arrest Stafford, he burglarized a vehicle on Mecanico Trail. Lewisburg Police were dispatched to the area and Stafford was arrested a short time later and charged with the burglary, and served the warrant for theft.
Stafford's bond was set at $21,500, and his first court date is Oct. 7.
Stafford is believed to have been involved in multiple thefts over the past few weeks and as a result, this investigation is still ongoing and more charges, as well as additional arrests, are probable. Detectives are actively pursuing leads and working to recover the victims' property. Victims whose property is recovered will be contacted.
Detectives are asking that anyone who may have purchased any item from Stafford or who have any information relating to this or any other case please call the Lewisburg Police Department at (931) 359-4044, or Crime Stoppers at (931) 359-4867, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
