Cordie Dee Dalton
Cordie Dee Dalton, 93, of Lewisburg, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Dalton was a native of Bedford County and was the son of the late Cordie Lee Dalton and Annie Dee Beasley Dalton. He was owner of Dalton Lumber Company for many years, was a long time deacon at First Baptist Church in Lewisburg, a member of the Lions Club, a member of Gideons International, and served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Porterfield Dalton, who passed away in 2011; one daughter, Cathey Dalton; and two grandchildren, Phillip Virgil "Punk" Dalton and Trevor Dee Dalton.
He is survived by three sons, Paul (Peggy) Dalton of Cornersville, Phillip (Vicky) Dalton of Lewisburg, and Kerry (Margaret) Dalton of Petersburg; two daughters, Emily Barnes and Becky Jackson of Lewisburg, 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mr. Dalton will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at First Baptist Church in Lewisburg with Dr. Tom Dumser and Bro. Paul Woodford officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Cemetery.
Visitation with the family began Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home and continued Wednesday, Sept. 3, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be Deacons at First Baptist Church.
