On Saturday, November 8, the Marshall County High School swim team opened their season at the Wellness and Aquatics Complex in Columbia. The High School team consists of students from MCHS, FHS, and CHS. They competed against division rivals Spring Hill, Columbia Academy, Summertown, Columbia Central, and Lawrence County.

This second-year team is again coached by Jeff Borne and assisted by Allison Mulliniks. These coaches were impressed by the times of all swimmers. Coach Borne said everyone beat their previous times in their respected events. Three swimmers, representing all three high schools, proved themselves by already qualifying for Regional meet, which will take place in January at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville. Alyssa Elliot, 17, a senior at FHS, qualified in the 200 yard IM and in the 100-yard freestyle. Natalie Cook, 16, a sophomore at MCHS, qualified in the 100-yard butterfly and Kayla Richter, 15, a sophomore at CHS, qualified in the 100-yard backstroke.

MCHS swimmer Cameron Middaugh finished with a second place and third place medal.
