All-District selections announced

The Forrest Rockets suffered an early elimination in the Class 2A playoffs, but the squad's hard work was recognized by the coaches in District 9A when 13 Rockets were recently selected to the All-District 9A team, including three of the biggest awards.

Senior Zach McClendon, who shattered the Forrest school record in both touchdowns (28) and rushing yards (1,948) in a single was selected as the District MVP.

Fellow senior Blake Leonard, who led the Rockets in tackles (65) from his linebacker position was honored for his hard work on the Forrest defensive unit when he was named the District 9A Defensive Player of the Year.

Junior Boone Sweeney came up with another stellar year on both sides of the line and was recognized for his efforts by being named the District 9A Lineman of the Year.

Also named to the first team was Logan Hollingsworth, Logan Ray, Chance Hargrove, John Mark Blanchett, Tristan Sawyer, and Neyland Darnell.

Garnering Honorable Mention spots on the post-season squad was Slayton Wild, Logan Wright, Jesse Pruitt, and Jacob Jones.
