District honors Osteen, Walker

The Marshall County Tigers were well represented for post-season honors recently when 13 players were selected to the District 12AA All-District squad.

The Tigers picked up two of the highest honors as Chris Walker was selected as the District MVP and first-year head coach Thomas Osteen was rewarded for a great 8-3 season when he was named Coach of the Year.

Huge numbers

Walker was the most dynamic player in the district, amassing 1,910 yards of total offense on the season, including 32 touchdowns.

Walker rushed for 1,271 yards on 149 carries, caught 16 passes for 149 yards, returned a kickoff and an interception for a score, and had three kickoff returns for touchdowns.

The senior standout accounted for 173.6 yards of offense per game for the Tigers.

Walker also threw for one touchdown and made 79 tackles on defense, tied for second on the team.
