John Thomas Harper
John Thomas Harper, 81, of the Clay Hill Community of Marshall County, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, in Nashville.
Mr. Harper was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Thomas Morgan and Mary Jane Thomas Harper. He was a graduate of Forrest School Class of 1951. After school, he served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Harper retired from Heil-Quaker Corp. of Lewisburg after 45 years of service and was also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Hickory Heights Church of Christ in Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Henry Thomas Lamb.
Mr. Harper is survived by his wife of 62½ years, Sybil Marie Darnell Harper of the Clay Hill Community; daughter, Sharon Marie Harper Lamb of the Clay Hill Community; granddaughter, Scarlett Marie Lamb (Tommy) Garner of Chapel Hill; great-granddaughter, Saylor Marie Garner of Chapel Hill; stepgrandchildren; great-granddog, Belle; and family friend, Jimmy Collins.
Funeral services were held Jan. 4, at Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial was in Hopper Cemetery in Marshall County.
