Alfred Wakefield, 86, of Lewisburg, died at his son's home Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
Mr. Wakefield was a lifelong hardworking resident of Marshall County, Tenn. and son of the late Thomas Benjamin and Lucille Pigg Wakefield.
He retired from the Lewisburg Electric System as a lineman and line foreman after 44 years. Along with many other labors of love, he was a farmer, deacon and member of Church Street Church of Christ, always a helping hand to any who were in need. He participated in several Church of Christ disaster relief efforts. Most important, a Christian example to all he came in contact with throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Walter Wakefield, sister, Louise Wakefield, and son, Dr. Victor Wakefield.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian Collins Wakefield of Lewisburg; son, Dr. Ray Wakefield and daughter-in-law Annette of the Yell Community; two brothers, Larimore Wakefield of the Yell Community and Thomas Wakefield of Verona; sister, Margie Dean Walker of Lewisburg; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wakefield's body has been donated to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life was conducted Thursday, March 26, from Church Street Church of Christ, followed by visitation.

London Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
